I know that there is a myth that you need to be in a Spanish speaking country in order to become fluent in Spanish. This is simply not true.
I was able to become fluent in Spanish within a few months. I never travelled during that time period, nor did I have anyone that I knew personally that spoke Spanish. I was still able to find ways to create my own Spanish environment, immerse myself in the language, and become fluent.
